Payment Responsibility

Payment Responsibility

By law, whoever owns a property on January 1 of each year is responsible for that year’s property taxes. If the property is sold later in the year, it is possible for the January 1 owner to transfer the liability for the payment of property taxes to the new owner. This can be done through a purchase agreement or other form of contract and is usually handled at the closing. (Should you have questions regarding a property you sold or purchased please consult your closing attorney)

Returned Check Policy

We are partnered with Envision Payment Solutions for the recovery of returned checks. If your check is dishonored by the bank, a service fee will be assessed in accordance with state law. In providing a check as payment, you authorize electronic representment if your check should return unpaid. Also, you authorize service charges and processing fees as allowed by state law to be debited from the same account via paper draft or electronic funds transfer.
